The brake lights work when the ignition is switched on. They continue to work for about 10 seconds after the ignition is switched off. Then they don't work any more.
If by chance it is not triggering, the switch is located down by the peddle. There should be an adjustment screw.

It is fixed now. I found the switch was not plugged in. I hooked it up and all is good. Thanks for the help.

Yes it was tucked up out of view over the other wires.

Yes. Check the wiring harness. There have been several comments about loose wires.
