Hi everyone. Just joined and am finding a ton of good info so far. I have a 2024 HD that I bought from out of state. I'm 75 years old and a Vietnam Vet. I've worked as a turbine engine mechanic, carpenter, brick mason, welder, and mold maker. I work part time (I'm basically retired) at a custom car shop doing welding and sheet metal fabrication. So far I have installed new bumpers, a gas spring to help raise the hood ( that thing is heavy!! ), and a lot of lights as well as a winch. My next project will be twin stick conversion.

Welcome Eggman! Your Roxor is looking a bit Old School.

Wow! Wish I had those skill sets. I velcroed a clock to my dash.😆

That hood gas shock is awesome, can you do some closeups? I'd like to mimic it.

Do a really good write up with lots of pictures on the Twin Stick Conversion. Several of us are seriously thinking about a Twin Stick.

OK, here are pics with measurements. For the bottom piece I used an old galvanized framing anchor I had lying around. The upper bracket is attached to the hood with 1/4" x 28 button head screws. I installed three nutserts in the sheet metal as I am very opposed to sheet metal screws in anything that rattles or vibrates. The gas spring is McMaster Carr part # 4155T901 (corrosion resistant gas spring, 80 lb. force, 26.2 extended length. The upper bracket is Mc Master Carr part # 9512K12 ( stainless steel ball stud mounting bracket). If I had this to do over again I would use a 100 lb. force gas shock. The hood opens easy enough but a stronger gas shock would have been better.
Of course, this was just my way of doing it. You could probably save some bucks by gettinga gas shock and bracket from a wrecking yard as there are a lot of vehicles that use them on hatch backs etc.
Hope this info. helps!!
