I started a Book at the Hardware Store around Eight Years ago. I just went through it, and rewrote it this week. I have phone numbers for all regular customers. I have pages listing Carpenters, Plumbers, Electricians, HVAC, Tree Trimmers, Handymen, and the list goes on for many pages. Lots of people in town know about my Book and come in when they need the name and phone number of someone to do a job.

When buying my new Hard Cover Book for the Hardware Store, I bought Two. The second is my ROXOR Book. Like most everyone else I cannot afford to do all of my ROXOR Modifications at one time. Also what I am planning to do keeps evolving as I read about different things others have done. This got me to thinking about getting important information down on paper so this information is easy to locate later.
I am just getting started on the Book. Page ONE is about the TAULER Jack Kit by Brennan's Garage. It lists recommended brands of Jacks to use with the kit, etc.
Page Two has information about the Diesel Freak Twin Stick Kit. I have parts numbers recorded for Gaskets, parts numbers for the Kaiser Willys Adjustable Poppet Plugs, What Grease goes in the Transfer Case, etc.
Page Three is about Limited Slip Units. Just getting this page going.

I have read over hundreds of pages of posts, and watch lots of You Tube Video on things to do to the ROXOR, or Jeep things that still apply to the ROXOR. Having this information recorded would have been handy. I have made Notes on what I was working on or planning to work on over the last couple years. As soon as the project was completed the notes went in the trash. I now see where writing down useful information where it can be kept is a very good plan. I should have started this Book two years ago when I bought my ROXOR. Even better, I probably should have started making notes around 2018 when I first started reading posts on this site.

That’s a great idea, I need a book to record all the stuff I buy but don’t use right away and where I put it! I’ll look for it knowing I should have it, not find it, buy again and then run across the original purchase the next day!

Something else that I SHOULD have done sooner, is to MAKE and KEEP Notes on the modifications that I have done on the Roxor.

I did all of the research on installing the Truck Lite Turn Signal Switch doing all of my own wiring. I used two Amber lights from a Farm Supply for the front turn signal lights, along with two small side lights for the front fender lip. On my 2024 the armored wiring channel for the side lights is still in place to protect the wiring. I did not buy a Kit, I wired it from scratch, and it turned out great. I did not keep that information.

Jeep YJ Windshield Wipers. I ended up putting them on a simple Lo-OFF-Hi Rocker Switch to match my other Rocker Switch Pro Switch's. I did all the research on wiring them with a Knob Type Universal Wiper Switch that when used with a simple 5 pin relay would make the Park Function work on the wiper motor. I decided not to go this route, however keeping that information might have helped someone else down the road.

My Rough Country Winch Plate is held down with SIX Bolts with Flange Nuts instead of Four using the supplied Nut Plate. The reason is that I also have Tow Hooks bolted on top of the Winch Plate. I ended up welding two Box End Wrenches together making the Wrench a few inches longer so that I could hold the Flange Nuts inside the Frame Rails when installing the bolts. That Wrench is in my tool box, so I can recreate that modification.

Then we have lots of simple things like swapping out the under seat locks for Turn Knobs. UTV Roll Bar mounted Sun Visors, now replaced by factory YJ Jeep Sun Visors.

Mirrors look to be simple, I believe I tried Three Sets of side view mirrors before finding some really good ones that worked. I am back on the search yet again due to the YJ Upper Door Hinge being on the Windshield Hinge. My "I am Happy With" side view mirrors now will not work due to the Upper Door Hinge being in the road. I am planning on using the Upper Door Hinge to mount the YJ Jeep Half Doors, so I cannot just cut them off.

I had the Front Stubby Bumper fabricated from 5 Inch C Channel. I am not sure that I could have made enough notes to simplify getting all EIGHT Mounting Bolt Holes in the exact right location. I should have bought the Die Grinder sooner. Someone needs to sell a paper Template to locate the Bolt Holes on a Custom Fabricated Front Bumper. You can band saw cut the 5 Inch C Channel to 42 Inches easily. End Filler Plates that extend down an Inch to keep a jack from kicking out from under the bumper are also a walk in the Park. Getting the Eight Bolt Holes in the exact right location was not all that easy for me to do.

I used Harbor Freight Rock Lites for my Interior Lighting.

I used the 6 LED Harbor Freight Flood Lights for my rear lighting. I ended up using Three due to later installing a Spare Tire and Carrier that blocked my center roof mounting location.

Cecco Rear Farm Bumper Installation. I did a lot of reading before I decided on the Farm Bumper. The research pays off getting exactly what you need.

And the list goes on. I may not need my notes any longer, but they might have helped someone else down the road. Hind Sight, I should have kept all the Research Papers in The BOOK.

Maybe not printed out but a note in the book to check the computer or perhaps a flash drive stored with the book would be a great way to handle the keeping of the service manual and parts manual that can be found here somewhere to download. Also a great way to hold pics of the build or stuff you saved for later mods. I keep a spreadsheet on my iPad of the service history as well as have those manuals stored on it. And of course all the vendors bookmarked for future expenditures. Modern solutions for modern problems associated with a modern but dated vehicular device.

txroadkill I have kept a Log Book clipped on the sun visor that I record my Oil Changes, Tire Rotations etc on. I have Log Books in My Jeep MOAB and both Pick-up trucks as well. After the YJ Windshield installation the Log Book went to the new 36" Shelf that I installed above the Sun Visors. It is very handy to be able to tell exactly how many miles a set of tires have lasted etc. I also have information such as Filter Numbers, Drain Plug Wrench Sizes, Oil Brand and Weight, Quantity of Fluids, etc in the Log Book.
Your suggestion of storing Information and Pictures on the Computer or Thumb Drive is a great idea. A picture can save 1000 words an old scholar once said. I do not have nearly enough pictures saved.
